Professional and Stylish
Creating a work wardrobe that not only looks appropriate, business-like and suited to your particular position, yet also conveys sophistication and confidence while reflecting your personal style, can be challenging. Fortunately though, you can indeed accomplish all of this. Regardless of your preferences and unique style, you have a myriad of options and looks from which to choose, many of which you may not yet have considered. -
Date Night
Whether you’re having a romantic dinner out for two, or simply meeting friends for drinks, date night is a small celebration and a time to relax and have fun. For some of us that means slipping into a sexy dress and heels, and for others it might be wearing our favorite pair of comfy jeans and a soft pullover. No matter what date night looks like for you, I've got the looks that are sure to please. -
Dress it Up or Down
A savvy way to increase the number of looks you can create from your wardrobe is to learn the art of taking simple pieces of clothing and dressing them up or down by switching out the shoes, handbag, jewelry, outer layer, etc. Shown here are three sets of comparison photos. In the first set, I’ve swapped pearls plus heels and a dressy sweater for a casual day look; in the second set I've changed a dressy stone necklace and wedge shoes for a whimsy necklace with flats and a statement bag; and in the third set I’ve swapped skinny heels for more casual chunky ones and added a denim jacket. So have fun with the pieces in your closet and see how many new looks you can create! -
The Versatility of Jeans
With an endless array of styles, colors and fits, from generic to designer names, jeans are not only a virtual staple in one’s wardrobe, but are appropriate at any age. Always versatile, whether you desire comfort, body-hugging and sexy for a special occasion, or simply chic, there are numerous options. From favoring dark wash rather than light, full length versus crop, or any shade or hue, the possibilities for great jeans looks are limitless. -
Travel with a Color Pallette
Packing for a trip can be stressful because we want to ensure we have what we need when we get to our destination. One way to reduce the stress and always look put together is to first decide on a color pallette. Then select clothing and accessories from your wardrobe based on that color scheme. Here, I’ve used a pallette of black, gray and white, and chosen pieces that mix and match beautifully to create endless looks for day and night. An added benefit is that you can reduce the number of handbags and shoes you need that take up a lot of space in your luggage. -
Timeless Outerwear
Being well dressed isn’t simply about having a great piece of clothing or a fabulous accessory, it’s about the total package of how you look from head to toe. And nothing can detract from that look faster than the wrong piece of outerwear when the weather turns cold. The good news is that by purchasing classic style coats, jackets, sweaters and capes in neutral colors, you can gradually build your wardrobe of outerwear over time with pieces that will complement your clothing for years to come. -
Cool Comfy Cotton
Chic styling can also be comfortable to wear, and nothing says comfort like soft cotton. Check out these fabulous looks made of cotton that are great for mixing and matching, and combining with your favorite accessories. Cotton is ideal in the summer, but also works beautifully for layering pieces in spring, fall and winter. -
Group Your Accessories
Instead of thinking about accessories as individual items, try thinking about them in terms of what goes together to create a cohesive look that you can wear with numerous outfits. For example, combine a dressy black or metallic shoe with crystal or pearl jewelry and a small evening bag, or casual day accessories with bangle bracelets and a chic sun hat that speaks volumes. Using this method, you won’t be caught short next time you’re dressing for an important event!
